The Laurels is a lovely, rambling old house and cottage - deceptively larger than it looks from the outside. It was built and added to over a long period - and has served a variety of uses, including farming, candle-making, and umbrella ferrule manufacture. Its 'new' front was added in the late eighteenth century when the turnpike company built the road through the valley (now the A46), and it was known as The New Inn until the 1860's, after which it became known by its current name of The Laurels.

The emphasis is on friendly hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere. On the ground floor of the main house is the dining room and reception area.

Three of the guests bedrooms, which are all en suite, are to be found on the first and second floors, where the beamed games room, with snooker/pool and board games, is also situated.

Adjacent to the house and alongside the stream is the cottage annexe, offering further en-suite rooms including a ground floor room with wheelchair access and full facilities for less able guests.
